Welcome to Inverse, a place where those in the know can pay Desirers and Catchers to fulfill their every desire: a promotion, an acceptance letter, a billion dollars, a rival’s death. Desirer Ray and Catcher Curse have been summoning for ten-and-five years now and they’re the most sought-after Desirer/Catcher duo. Too bad Ray hates summoning and Curse only cares about upgrading security measures. Except now the Impera’s political machinations have forced them to summon for the revival of the Impera’s long-dead sister, committing them to the darkest desire out there...and the darker the desire, the bigger the sacrifice.

That’s when Ray’s bad luck kicks in, ruining the summoning and reversing Ray and Curse’s entire worldview with the results. Of course.
